The Tigray government has written a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. In the letter, Tigray President Debretsion Gebremichael called upon the UN to play its role in stopping some Middle Eastern countries from supplying the Ethiopian government with combat drones.
According to the letter, Turkey, UAE, and Iran and involved in supplying weapons including combat drones to the Ethiopian government, and these weapons especially drones are being used against civilians in Tigray leading to civilian casualties.
Tigray government says that the 3 countries are responsible for ongoing civilian killings by Ethiopian government forces and the United Nations must engage the 3 countries to stop them from supplying the Ethiopian government with weapons.
Dozens of suspicious cargo flights have been recorded between UAE, Turkey, Iran, and Ethiopia within the past 3 months which have led to speculations that the 3 countries are arming the Ethiopian government in the ongoing civil war.
