Ethiopia has received at least 5 Turkish TB-2 drones. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmad visited Turkey a few months ago. Ethiopia and Turkey signed security agreements during the visit. Back then it was being said that PM Abiy Ahmad visited Turkey to purchase TB-2 drones.
Turkish TB-2 drones have proved to be the game-changer in Libya and Nagorno Karabakh conflicts. Though most experts claim that along with Turkish TB drones, Turkish operators to fly these drones were also on the ground in those conflict areas.
The Ethiopian government is fighting advancing Tigray forces and Oromo Liberation Army members who are claiming to be heading towards the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. The Ethiopian government intends to use drones in the ongoing internal conflict.
