Ethiopian CBE bank President this week warned about money miracle prayers. Abe Sano, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia head, spoke on Addis Walta, a state owned television channel.
Social media platforms are full of videos showing Protestant preachers reciting money miracle prayers. Pictures came out of a Protestant Church in Bishoftu Oromia this week. The pictures showed Protestant followers with their CBE bank account books in the church. They attended the church service with bank books hoping to have their money deposits multiplied through money miracles prayers recited by protestant clergyman.
The CBE President said that the bank authorities were analyzing the legality of such practices in the church. He added that money deposits could be blessed not multiplied by prayers.
Several Prosperity Gospel preachers are known for holding these money miracles programs in the Oromia region and Southern areas of Ethiopia. Joy Chiro and Miracle Teka are famous protestant preachers for money miracle prayers in Ethiopia.
Such money miracle prayers are practiced not in Ethiopia only. Uebert Angel from Zimbabwe is another popular name. In 2023 he was found running a money laundering scheme by abusing his diplomatic privileges. Angel’s former congregants have accused him of rape and sexual assault.
