US imposes sanctions on Eritrea over the conflict in Ethiopia

US has imposed sanctions on 4 Eritrean entities and 2 individuals over the role of Eritrean forces and individuals in the ongoing Ethiopian conflict. According to a statement issued by US Treasury Department, Eritrean Defence Force, Eritrean ruling party PFDJ ( People’s Front for Democracy & Justice ), Hidri trust & Red Sea Trading Corporation.

Two Eritrean individuals Abraha Kasa Nemarian, head of Eritrean National Security, and Hagos Gebrehiwot Kidan, Economic adviser to PFDJ have also been sanctioned. In the statement issued, the US has once again warned the Ethiopian government and Tigray People’s Liberation Front to make tangible progress towards a peaceful solution to the Ethiopian conflict.
