University of Addis Ababa is going to launch a new vocational training program. The university plans to offer a vocational certification program starting in September. The president of the University of Addis Ababa, Dr. Jeilu Oumer, announced yesterday that they are working towards making the university fully independent in two years.
As part of this effort, they will launch a vocational certification program for graduates who have completed their undergraduate and postgraduate studies to help them enter the workforce. The program will meet international standards and focus on industry needs.
In this program areas of focus will likely include technical skills, professional certifications, and hands-on training. By providing vocational training, the University of Addis Ababa hopes to improve graduate employability and strengthen ties with industry.
Moreover, two days ago, the Addis Ababa City Administration announced a qualification exam for 18,591 teachers and school administrators in Addis Ababa. This exam is part of efforts to evaluate the competence and qualifications of the teaching workforce in the city.
However, last year, the Addis Ababa government introduced a competency exam for all city government employees. The move met with criticism from some quarters, accusing the government of imposing the dominance of the Oromo ethnic group through such exams.

Why is the university need to give additional 2year vocational school instead it was supposed to qualify the students to fully fit the industry work force in its regular program . It just doesn’t make sense .Either yhe vocational teaching need to be for those who have not qualify to make in to yhe regular university program or the university need to work to make fully qualify its regular graduate students to the University under the regular program
what u said makes sense
