The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and MasterCard signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding. This MoU aims to make it easier for people to use cards instead of cash. They signed this agreement on May 2, 2024, at the CBE headquarters in Ethiopia. This partnership will help make card services better in Ethiopia and other countries. They will also bring in new card services.

By working together for five years, both CBE and MasterCard will help Ethiopia move towards a cashless economy. They will focus on meeting the changing needs of the bank’s customers and introducing new services that meet global standards.

This includes integrating MasterCard’s Payment Gateway Services (MPGS) into CBE’s systems to enable digital payments for government services.

MasterCard is a well-known company that helps people make payments and it’s working in more than 210 countries. They have been working with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia for a long time, and this new agreement shows their commitment to continue working together.
