Bati Market is one of the biggest markets in Ethiopia. It is held every Monday in Bati town of Oromia Special Zone of Amhara region. Authorities closed this market today due to the plague. The plague is spreading in the rural areas of Bati city and Bati district in the Amhara region, say local health officials. The authorities decided to close this market today for the safety of buyers and sellers.
The health task force of Bati City today urged the community to understand the problem and play its role in tackling it. It asked Bati town residents to stay at home to prevent the spread of the disease.
The local health authorities have issued the following guidelines to curb the plague:
- Ban on the selling of street food.
- No one should spread and sell the watermelons and other fruits on the road.
- KG school students should stay at home with their parents and eat clean food.
- People should stay neat and clean and maintain hygiene.
- Eat unfrozen and undamaged food to prevent diarrhea.
- If anyone is facing diarrhea and vomiting, he should visit health facilities as soon as possible.
Bati health authorities are assuring the people that the disease will end soon. However the closure of the main market in Bati points towards the gravity of the situation.
