Ethiopian State Broadcaster, Fana TV, last night showed an Ethiopian Military officer who Amhara Fano fighters claimed to have killed.
Last month Amhara Fano fighters claimed that they had killed Gadisa Diro, an Ethiopian military officer. Gojjam Fano spokesperson Marshet Tsehaye claimed that Gadisa Diro was a Major General of Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) and he had been killed in Dega Dagmot town, Gojjam zone of the Amhara region. Ethiopian military did not respond to Fano’s claim. Since last year, clashes have been ongoing between Amhara Fano militia members and Ethiopian military across the Amhara region. Last month, the military killed Wubante Abate, a senior Fano commander in South Gondar. Fano groups launched an operation to take revenge for the death of Gadisa Diro. The Amhara militia termed Gadisa Diro’s death as a revenge for Wubante Abate’s killing.
Last night Fana TV, the Ethiopian state television, broadcast a report about military operation against Oromo Liberation Army in the Oromia region. The report showed two Ethiopian military officers briefing about this operation. One of the officers shown was Gadisa Diro. Gadisa Diro is a Colonel of the 6th regiment of ENDF. He has been working in Oromia region since earlier this year. The claim of his death in Amhara region by Fano last month seems untrue.
