The Ethiopian government has banned reporting on the ongoing war. Ethiopian government authorities met yesterday to evaluate the security situation in the wake of National Emergency Measures put in place at the start of this month.
According to Ethiopian State Media, Four new directions have been passed including the ban on reporting from any unauthorized individual or entity about battlefield updates, military maneuvers, the outcome of fighting, etc. Citizens have been told not to wear uniforms of any federal or regional force.
Moreover, the government has vowed to take action against any individual trying to promote the formation of a transitional government or trying to support Tigray People’s Liberation Front directly or indirectly.
These announcements could lead to increased pressure upon Ethiopian private media and journalists who are covering the ongoing war between Ethiopian Federal Government and Tigray Regional Forces.
