Ethiopia: A massive protest was held today in front of the US embassy in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital. The protesters sang the national anthem and chanted slogans accusing the American government of backing the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).
Earlier in the day, the Ethiopian Communication Ministry accused the US embassy in Ethiopia of spreading false information. Over the past few days, the US has been calling upon its citizens and nonessential diplomatic staff in Ethiopia to leave the country immediately citing worsening security situation due to military advances by Tigray Defence Force and Oromo Liberation Army towards the capital city.
Earlier this week, the Ethiopian diaspora took out massive #NoMore rallies in dozens of cities in the US. Participants in the rallies accused the US government and international media of being biased against the Ethiopian government in the ongoing Ethiopia-Tigray conflict. The Ethiopian government has been trying to mobilize Ethiopians in and outside the country against the alleged US’s backing of Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).
