Dessie Special Boarding School of Ethiopia has achieved remarkable success in 12th grade exams. It ranks first in overall results in Ethiopia and second for high scores. In the 2016 national 12th grade exams, Dessie Special Boarding School recorded the highest score in the Amhara region, reaching a top score of 574, known as a “master” score.
The school also reported a second-highest score of 562. Hayat Abdu, a female student, achieved the highest score among girls with 546. The lowest score recorded was 458. Out of 65 students tested, 45 scored above 500 marks.
The school emphasizes its top ranking due to a 100% pass rate. They combine and average the students’ scores to determine their overall performance. The school confidently states, “No other school can beat this school. It is first.”
This year, the Amhara region has faced significant peace and security challenges. Despite these difficulties, the school continues to produce some of the highest achievers in the country. The second-highest score in the nation this year also came from this region.
