TPLF has demanded an apology from Deutsche Welle, the German news outlet. Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has written a letter to Deutsche Welle. TPLF is the largest political party in the Tigray region of Ethiopia.
According to the letter, Deutsche Welle Amharic, on 12th May, aired a news about TPLF. The DW Amharic journalists claimed that internal divisions in TPLF had soared to a level that TPLF leaders would start “killing each other”.
In the letter written from TPLF to Deutsche Welle, the party responded by saying ” This threatening allegation cannot be taken as a news for a responsible public media, like Deutsch Welle. Even though there is no such a threat and reality on the ground, the news was obviously cooked by some individuals, specifically responsible for that matter within the broadcaster, to create a terror and uncertainty”.
At the end of this letter, TPLF demanded Deutsche Welle to conduct an investigation, take corrective measures and issue an official apology.
