The Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority has banned the use of the injectable antimalarial drug “Artemether”.
According to the market survey conducted by the drug control authority, the drug was found, which was not registered by the authority, and when the sample was taken and tested in the laboratory, it was confirmed that the substance called artemether was not found in it.
With this, the authority urged health professionals not to use this drug and regional inspectors at all levels to take measures by strictly monitoring their areas.
The drug is manufactured by a Chinese drug manufacturer. Artemether 80mg/1ml is an injectable anti-malarial drug.
