Ethiopia: Agew Liberation Front (ALF), an armed group operating in the Amhara region of Ethiopia, has issued a statement. ALF is calling upon other nations and nationalities in Ethiopia to watch the situation closely. The group says that the Ethiopian government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmad could commit genocide of Agews.
Agew Liberation Front (ALF) came into existence a few months ago when Tigray forces entered the neighboring Amhara region. The group demands a separate Agew region split from the Amhara region for Agew ethnic group living in the Amhara region.
Tigray forces were backing, training, and arming the fighters of the Afew Liberation Front in Wag Himora and North Wollo zones of the Amhara region. Now when Tigray forces are retreating from Wag Himora and North Wollo zones of Amhara region back into Tigray, Agew Liberation Front could be the target of a crackdown by Ethiopian government security forces.
