Boeing, the giant American aircraft manufacturer, is going to open its African headquarters in Addis Ababa.
African Aviation Summit was held from Tuesday 21st – Thursday 23rd May, 2024, in the Bill Gallagher Room, Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa. Ethiopian delegation participated in the Summit. It was announced there that Boeing was planning to open an office in Addis Ababa next year.
In March this year, it was announced that Ethiopian Airlines had entered into an agreement to purchase eight Boeing 777-9 airplanes, with the option to acquire up to 12 additional jets, marking the airline as the first in Africa to order the 777X model. This deal followed the airline’s significant order in 2023 for 11 787 Dreamliner and 20 737 MAX aircraft, as part of its fleet modernization and expansion strategy.
