The Addis Ababa City Administration has handed over the services of two shopping centers in Kolfe and Belemi Kura sub-cities to third-party companies.
Mr. Biniam Mikuru, the head of the Addis Ababa Trade Bureau, explained that the city administration has transferred the administrative, cleaning, and security responsibilities for these shopping centers to third-party providers.
The goal is to strengthen control over the pricing, cleanliness, and security at these facilities. Mr. Biniam believes this will enable consumers to access quality products at reasonable prices, and also help reduce inflation in the city.
The Addis Ababa City Administration Cabinet made the decision to outsource selected government services to third parties. This includes transferring the administrative management of city-built markets to companies that won open tenders.
The Hab Business H/T/Private Association and Ethio Protection Service have received three-month contracts to take over the operations of the two shopping centers. This is part of the city’s strategy to leverage private sector expertise to improve public service delivery.
