Ethiopian Ride announced a partnership with Visa on Friday. Ride was founded in 2006 and it connects passengers with transportation services in Ethiopia and Djibouti through its app and call center. Ride is famous for its reliable services and it operates in three cities in Ethiopia.
Visa is a global digital solution provider and now they are partnering with Ride to expand their services. Visa has users of its service in more than 200 countries around the world.
Ride is the main transportation service in Ethiopia and Visa is a popular digital payment system. Ride and Visa announced a partnership to make life easy for the people of Ethiopia. Now, visitors, foreigners, and Ethiopians living abroad can use their Visa cards to pay for rides through the ride app. Moreover, this partnership will have a positive impact on the traveler in Ethiopia, now they can pay for their rides without worrying about the cash.
The CEO of Ride, Samarawit Fikru, said that they are excited about this partnership with Visa as it is aligned with “Digital Ethiopia 2025”. The Visa director in Ethiopia, Jared, also showed the same excitement and said that they are committed to supporting travel and tourism in Ethiopia by providing secure digital payments.
The plan of “Digital Ethiopia 2025” is to modernize the economy and society of Ethiopia through digital technology. Moreover, through this partnership, they can improve digital payments which is one aspect of “Digital Ethiopia 2025”. Bank of Abyssinia and other banks will also collaborate on this.
