Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister, Taye Atskeselassie, stated that Ethiopia wants to use its water resources fairly and reasonably. He shared that Ethiopia is working hard to ensure its development using its natural resources like water. He explained that power supply is crucial for sustainable development that benefits citizens.

The Taye Atskeselassie mentioned that Ethiopia has no interest in harming any country except ensuring its development. He said the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is an example of this as the dam is beneficial for lower flow countries other than Ethiopia.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has emphasized in discussions with leaders of lower stream countries that the dam is a center of cooperation that links the region to development. Ethiopia has stated it has a strong stand to resolve misunderstandings through discussion based on international principles and fair use.
