Five banks were robbed in the Amhara region in a single day this week. The region has been gripped by deteriorating law and order situation since last year. Fano militias are fighting the security forces. Despite several military operations and imposition of state of emergency, the security situation is far from being peaceful.
The five banks were robbed in the north Wollo zone of the Amhara region. All the five banks are located in Sirinka city. No details have been shared by the banks authorities. Branches of the following banks were robbed reportedly:
1:-Bank of Abyssinia
2:-Abay Bank
3:-Tsedey bank
4:- Commercial banking
5: – Bunna Bank
Bank authorities hesitate from blaming Fano fighters for the robbery. Dozens of different armed Fano groups are operating across the Amhara region. In north Wollo, Mihret Wodajo and Colonel Fanatan Muhabah are leading thousands of Fano fighters.
