The Ethiopian government today accused humanitarian aid organizations of being biased and partial. Frictions between the Ethiopian government and aid agencies have been going on since the start of the Tigray war last year in November.
Today Ethiopian Communication Minister said that international aid agencies were not willing to work in the Amhara and Afar regions of Ethiopia while tens of thousands were in urgent need of aid in the two regions.
Yesterday UN officials once again called upon the Ethiopian government to release the UN aid workers which the Ethiopian government has arrested and so far no formal charges have been announced against them.
While most aid agencies operating in Ethiopia are working in the Tigray region of Ethiopia where millions are in dire need of aid, the humanitarian crisis is worsening in the Amhara and Afar regions of Ethiopia too.
The Ethiopian government has been accusing aid agencies of supporting Tigray People’s Liberation Front since the start of the Tigray war. But UN and other aid agencies are of the opinion that the crisis in Tigray is worse than in Amhara and Afar regions.
