Demeke Mekonnen, Former Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, has launched a non profit non government organization called Yadam Foundation. Demeke worked in key positions in Ethiopia including Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Chairman of ruling Prosperity Party. Earlier this year, he retired from politics.
Yadam Foundation intends to eradicate child stunting across Africa by working on nutritional requirements of children and mothers. At a ceremony held in Addis Ababa, the foundation was launched in the presence of locals and foreigners.
Hailemariam Desalegn, former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, is also running an NGO in southern Ethiopia. He has been under fire for receiving 5 million euro from a French Development agency. Azeb Mesfin, wife of the late Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, has also been leading an NGO for years.
