Safaricom Ethiopia, the second largest telecom service provider in Ethiopia, has announced that it has not provided its customers’ data to the Ethiopian government.
The company announced in a statement that it respects the freedom of its customers based on the country’s data protection law and it will not hand over any of his customers’ information to any other party unless ordered by the court.
Safaricom further explained that it has not yet received a court order to provide such customer information to the government.
It is being rumored in social media that the Safaricom Ethiopia has shared its customers’ sensitive data with the Ethiopian government. The company dismissed all the rumors through this statement today.
