Oromia Approves 285 Billion Birr Budget for 2025

Chefe Oromia’s 6th term, 3rd year, and 7th regular assembly approved a budget of 285.19 billion birr for the year 2025. According to Mr. Tolosa Gedefa, the head of the Oromia regional finance bureau, this budget is structured to effectively address the developmental needs of the region’s residents.

The Oromia budget breakdown includes 38.03 billion birr allocated for operational expenses, 67.89 billion birr for capital investments, and 178.65 billion birr designated for supporting woredas and city administrations, along with a reserve of 600 million birr. Notably, this budget represents an increase of 63.6 billion birr compared to last year.

Funding for this budget will come from an anticipated 205.5 billion birr generated within the region, supplemented by 74.4 billion birr from the federal government. The budget emphasizes new initiatives in water, health, and road services, aiming to complete ongoing projects in districts and cities.

Members of the parliament highlighted the necessity of closely monitoring the budget to ensure it fosters development and provides economic benefits to the citizens. The draft budget for 2025 was unanimously approved by Chefe.
