Some local Karayu Oromo elders have been killed in the East Shewa Zone of the Oromia region. Karayu is an Oromo clan living mostly in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. Reportedly a local Karayu elder Jiloo Didoo and some other elders have been killed.
Oromo Liberation Army Spokesperson, Oda Tarbi, has accused Ethiopian government forces of having killed Karayu elders for not joining the fight of government forces against the Oromo Liberation Army.
Ethiopian Federal and Oromia Regional Governments have not issued any statements in this regard so far. Oromo Liberation Army, an armed group, has been trying to gain ground in East Shewa where the Karayu tribe resides.
Ethiopian government forces, including the Ethiopian air force, have intensified their operations in different parts of the Oromia region against OLA. Drone strikes were also conducted on OLA positions along Nekemte-Finote Selam road 3 days ago.
