Ethiopian Prime Minister on Saturday inaugurated the largest cement factory in Ethiopia. 600 million dollars have been spent to build Lemi National Cement Factory.

Lemi National Cement Factory has a production capacity of 150,000 quintals per day. It took two years to build it. The cement factory built in the Amhara region, 130 km away from Addis Ababa. It is a joint venture between Hong Kong-based Western International Holdings and the the Ethiopian industrial company East Africa Holding.

Ethiopian Prime Minister, after inaugurating the factory, posted a social media message. “Ethiopians if we can’t tie our waist, control our guts and do strong things, the poverty line that we are in will not only end in our time but will not pass to our children. On the basis we agreed and promised, we will not inherit poverty, we will inherit prosperity, and deliver a better country. I am confident that if we work together strongly and work hard on the basis we promised, Lemme Cement Factory will show what our country will look like,” he said.

During the inauguration the Ethiopian prime minister emphasized the national importance of the project and called the private sector to participate in big projects such as fertilizer production.
