Federal Police Probe Terrorism on Ethiopian Domestic Flight

Spread the love

The Federal Police have launched an investigation into terrorism involving six individuals suspected of breaching aviation protocols on a flight of Ethiopian Airlines from Addis Ababa to Mekele. The suspects include:

  • John Daniel
  • Emanuel Exit
  • Nathaniel Wendwossen
  • Elias Driba
  • Yidididia
  •  Eleni

According to the Federal Police Criminal Investigation Bureau, the suspects claimed that the aircraft was unable to fly due to natural air disturbances. However, their actions to disrupt the flight make them responsible under the law.

The investigation suggests that these individuals are connected to anti-peace groups, raising suspicions of terrorism. The police expressed disappointment that, while the airline asked for patience from security forces, the suspects acted against that trust, driven by their hidden motives.

The police also criticized the suspects for misusing social media instead of promoting positive actions, which harmed a source of national pride, Ethiopian airlines.

The six suspects are scheduled to appear in court on August 26, 2024, facing charges related to violations of both domestic and international flight regulations, as well as terrorist offenses.
