Ethiopian runners come first at the BMW Berlin Marathon this morning, winning the men’s and women’s races. Milkesa Mengesha claimed victory in the men’s competition, finishing with a time of 2:03:17. He faced tough competition from Kenyan runner Cybrian Kotut, who took second place at 2:03:22. Another Ethiopian, Haymanot Alew, finished third with a time of 2:03:31.
Ethiopian runners dominated the women’s race by securing the top four positions in the Berlin Marathon. Tigist Ketema won first place with a time of 2:16:42. Genzebe Dibaba followed in second at 2:18:48. At the same time, Melat Kejeta took third with a time of 2:19:00. Last year, Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa set a world record in the women’s marathon in Berlin, finishing in 2:11:53.
