The Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority shared that they have exported 210,000 tons of coffee in the last ten months of the current fiscal year. And they have generated $1 Billion from this 210,000 tons of coffee. Adugna Debela, the Director General of the Authority, states that Ethiopia’s export coffee production has been consistently rising.
However, last month the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority also published the details. As per the details, Ethiopia earned $835.23 million from exporting coffee in the first nine months of the current fiscal year by exporting 174,596 tons of coffee.
So, in the last month of the fiscal year, Ethiopia exported more than 35,000 tons of coffee which earned around $165 million. The Director General states that Ethiopia’s coffee exports have risen substantially compared to the same timeframe in the previous year. Ethiopia ships coffee to around 50 to 60 nations, with the United States, Japan, Belgium, Germany, and Saudi Arabia being the leading importers and consumers of Ethiopian coffee.
Last year, they earned more than $1.33 billion from Ethiopian Coffee. They are aiming for $1.75 billion this year. Ethiopian Airlines is also helping the government to achieve the target as they have reduced the shipping fee on coffee exports. Read More…
Last month, Ethiopian Airlines announced that they have reduced the shipping fee for coffee products sent to Asia and the Middle East. Ethiopian Airlines offered a $1.5 per kilogram discount on cargo services for coffee products.
