Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline, announced today that it will increase its weekly passenger flights to Chennai, India.
Ethiopian Airlines shared that it will add an extra flight to Chennai, bringing its total to four weekly flights to this destination, which is now its fourth passenger city in India.
This new schedule will take effect on October 27, 2024. This announcement follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on July 30, 2024, between the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation, which aims to expand Ethiopian Airlines’ presence in India.
As part of the agreement, the airline will also introduce three additional flights to and from Hyderabad. The Ethiopian Embassy in New Delhi reported that the MoU will increase the airline’s capacity from 35 to 38 flights per week in each direction.
Earlier this month, Ethiopian Airlines announced that it will begin daily flights to Brussels, Belgium, starting on Monday, October 27, 2024. Moreover, in July 2024, Ethiopian Airlines started night flights between Addis Ababa and Mekelle.
By strategically adding new routes within Ethiopia, the national carrier aims to provide greater accessibility and convenience for travelers across the country.
