Ethiopian Airlines has announced the suspension of its flights to and from Asmara, Eritrea, effective September 3, 2024. This decision arises from challenging operational conditions in Eritrea that are beyond the airline’s control.
To support the customers affected by this suspension of Asmara flights, Ethiopian Airlines announced to rebook passengers on other airlines at no additional cost. Alternatively, passengers can choose to receive a full refund for their tickets.
In the month of July, the Civil Aviation Authority suspended all Ethiopian Airlines flights to Eritrea, effective September 30, 2024, due to ongoing operational concerns. The suspension comes after persistent issues plaguing Ethiopian Airlines’ services. Passengers have reported frequent problems with luggage handling, including theft, damage, and loss. Many have experienced significant delays and difficulties obtaining proper compensation. Additionally, unexplained price increases and other service irregularities have raised concerns among travelers and aviation authorities alike.
Interestingly, Ethiopian Airlines announced the suspension of Asmara flights earlier than the scheduled deadline of September 30, 2024.
Moreover, Ethiopian Airlines announced six weekly flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh, starting November 1, 2024. The airline will operate these flights using the modern Boeing B787 Dreamliner for a comfortable travel experience.
