Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its services by launching new flights from Addis Ababa to Freetown, Sierra Leone, with a stopover in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, starting May 31st, 2024. In a launch event today, Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew emphasized the growing importance of air transportation in integrating the African continent, noting significant progress in this area over time.
The CEO highlighted that initiating this flight service will enhance the already strong ties between Ethiopia and Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone’s ambassador to Ethiopia, Harold Bundu Safa, commended Ethiopian Airlines for fostering African unity through its expanded flight network across the continent.
The route will be operated using Ethiopia’s advanced Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft, showcasing the airline’s commitment to providing top-notch service on this new route.
Additionally, last week, Ethiopian Airlines announced plans to launch flights to the city of Nekemte in the Oromia region. The new route will commence on June 17, 2024. Ethiopian Airlines has announced plans to expand its domestic operations to cater to the rising travel demand within Ethiopia.
Moreover, last week it was announced that Boeing was planning to open an office in Addis Ababa next year.
