Ethiopian Airlines has partnered with Dar Company to build a new international airport in Bishoftu. Mesfin Tasew, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, and Hari Al Khani from Dar Company signed the agreement, which spans operations in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda.
Ethiopian Airlines plans to serve over 100 million passengers annually on this new airport and will undergo construction in two phases over the next five years.
In the first phase, the airport will accommodate 60 million passengers, requiring an investment of approximately six billion dollars. The project also includes plans for a railway and an expressway that will connect the airport to Addis Ababa.
Tariq Al Qani, the operations director at Dar Company, expressed his commitment to supporting Ethiopian Airlines in achieving its strategic vision for 2035. With extensive experience in airport construction worldwide, Dar Company will oversee the design and management of the project until its completion.
