Somalia is preparing to offer Ethiopia access to a port, while Ethiopia plans to withdraw from its agreement with Somaliland. Diplomatic sources indicate that Ethiopia and Somalia have concluded negotiations based on a “give and take” principle.
The foreign ministers of Ethiopia and Somalia have agreed in principle to Turkey’s proposal. This agreement involves Somalia providing port access to Ethiopia, which will then abandon the deal it made with Somaliland in January.
Recent remarks from the Turkish president and the Ethiopian prime minister support this situation. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan contacted Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on social media, suggesting that if Ethiopia takes actions to reduce any threats to Somalia’s independence and unity, it will help continue the discussions. Diplomats view this as a sign that Ethiopia is distancing itself from its agreement with Somaliland.

I totallly absolutely disagree
On which seaport of Somalia will Ethiopia deal with somalia?
If it is on a port within the self proclaimed Somali land state, its success will be unrealistic as the region is very volatile.
Ethiopia only needs sea access for the red sea while failed state of somalia doesn’t have any location in the red sea countries
failed state of somalia doesn’t have sea access at the red sea while Ethiopia need to the red see access somaliland have a geographical area passion for the red see
Ethiopia will take salac port with the permission of federal government of somalia . And there is nothing that ISAAQLAND can do about it .
You seem to be misinformed. The Turkish FM has been begging the Ethiopian government to recognize Somalia. It’s a failed state and doesn’t have any sovereignty. The treaty between the blessed republic of Somaliland and Ethiopia will soon be signed at the AU Hall in Addis Abeba and many countries will witness this event. Somaliland is a sovereign state and The 55th African country.
Yes, that was the way to go, ignore the Turkish government plan to remove us from this negotiation, they are there to protect their own interest not Ethiopian interest. Ethiopia must recognize Somali as independent state then once that recognized by couple of other major countries such as like England and UAE period Somali land is independent state, therefore, they can determine who ever they want to do business with.
Another Fake Somalia news. This is the third time Somalia promotes fake news regarding Somaliland and Ethiopia agreement. This is a shame on Somalia and it’s government. Obviously there is no integrity there.
I would welcome the agreement between Ethiopia and Somalia.
we need to live in peace and collaborate together.
Somaliland is regional state, it is part of Somalia
We Somalilanders should not give any sea portes to Ethiopia, only commercial, access.
Memorandum of undrestanding between ethiopia and North Somalia is null and vold if ethiopia wants sea port hire it must make compromise to føderal somali goverment North Somalia is part of Somalia region we will not allow as soverien state
The difference between Ethiopia and Somalia remains colonial borders established in a bid to keep brotherly Africans divided and backward. The African development is not expected to come from artificial lines drawn by foreign looters hence the need to abandon them and adopt continental integration
