Debre Berhan: Taye Habtegiorgis, Police Chief of Debre Berhan city, has been taken into custody. According to Daniel Eshetu, City Peace & Security Office Head, Taye Habtegiorgis was arrested after he released some detainees who had links with Tigray People’s Liberation Front.
As Tigray forces and Oromo Liberation Army fighters are advancing towards Debre Berhan from Shewa Robit town, Debre Berhan city government has put in place several security measures; Day time curfew has been imposed; City residents have been told not to go outside without ID cards. The government says that the move is aimed at identifying infiltrators.
Meanwhile, Tigray forces so have not reached close to Debre Berhan. They are said to be fighting somewhere close to Debre Sina town. There is large presence of the Ethiopian military in Debre Berhan.
