Ethiopian Ministry of Finance has confirmed that domestically produced and imported goods and some services provided in the country are exempt from value added tax (VAT).
Among the items exempted from VAT are:
Teff,
wheat,
Barley .
Fertilizer ,
Veterinary medicine and also capital goods that are offered by capital lease agreement are available.
The decision to exempt these items from VAT has been taken to reduce prices of food items and control food inflation. Farmers have been recently complaining about shortage and high prices of fertilizers.
