Henok Tefera, head of Boeing’s African operations, announced that the company will open its office in Addis Ababa in October. Boeing recently revealed plans to establish its African headquarter in Ethiopia. This decision comes as the country advances in the aviation sector and becomes a key hub for aviation in Africa.
Tefera stated that the new office will strengthen Boeing’s collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines. It will also provide Ethiopia with more opportunities to enhance its status as Africa’s aviation center. Additionally, Tefera mentioned that Boeing aims to work closely with Airline of Ethiopia on joint initiatives for producing aircraft components.
In March this year, it was announced that Ethiopian Airlines had entered into an agreement to purchase eight Boeing 777-9 airplanes, with the option to acquire up to 12 additional jets, marking the airline as the first in Africa to order the 777X model.
