The Afar region revenue bureau has announced revenue collection for the 2016 fiscal year. The bureau successfully collected over 4.228 billion birr.
Mr. Awol Abdu, the head of the Afar region revenue bureau, revealed that the revenue target for the fiscal year was set at 5.264 billion birr. However, the bureau’s efforts resulted in an actual collection of 4.228 billion birr, representing 80% of their goal.
Mr. Awol Aklewum highlighted the bureau’s ability to tap into diverse revenue sources, including direct taxes, indirect taxes, non-tax revenues, and municipal revenues. This approach ensures stable funding for essential services and development projects, reducing dependency on any single source of income.
Mr. Abdu emphasized the importance of aligning revenue generation with the region’s economic potential and the developmental needs of its citizens. The bureau plans to implement innovative strategies and foster collaboration with local businesses and stakeholders to achieve this goal.
By diversifying revenue sources, prioritizing development, and implementing strategic initiatives, the bureau aims to enhance the quality of life for its residents and stimulate sustainable economic growth.
