Addis Ababa University has introduced a new student admission system. The University has issued a press release today regarding the new admission procedure for students from the new academic year.
The university announced it will accept students who have achieved excellent results and have special skills. According to the new admission system, the students who have taken the 12th grade national exit exam in the academic year 2023 and 2024 can register on the university portal with following requirements.
- One of the requirements is to score more than 50 percent in the 12th grade exam. It could increase to 60 or 70 percent depending on the number of registrants.
- The university will prepare the Undergraduate Admission Test and passing this test is another requirement set by the university. The test will measure their reasoning and formula skills of students.
The students who apply to study at the university will be dealt with in two ways. One is the students who meet the requirements and pay full fees and the other is the students who request the government to sponsor them. There will be no set quota in this regard, but according to his plan, 50 percent of the government will pay for the students and 50 percent will be paid for by their own expenses.
A system will be introduced in which the government will accommodate highly qualified and competitive students by covering the cost of training in fields that are needed for the country, and special attention will be given to women, disabled students and students from developing regions.
