Addis Ababa land lease auction has been extended for another 10 days. Addis Ababa city administration recently issued the third round of lease auction for lands located in eight sub-cities, including the areas cleared by corridor development in Piazza. The land lease auction has been extended for another 10 days.
The auction was due to start on Monday, July 22 and continue for 7 consecutive days. The government did not provide any reason for the extension. Reportedly the extension has been announced because there are not enough bidders.
The land development and management office of the city administration has offered 228 plots for the third round of bidding. The information obtained from the city administration indicates that some of these lands have had their previous leases terminated.Addis Ababa government has been implementing the “road corridor development” since the end of last February. These lands being offered on lease are mostly located in the Piazza areas near Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in Arada Sub-city.Read more..
