Addis Ababa Corridor Project Phase 2 to be Launched

Addis Ababa government is considering the launch of the second phase of Addis Ababa Corridor Project. The project was launched to widen and expand city’s roads infrastructure to ensure its connectivity to key installations in the capital city.

The second phase of the corridor development in Addis Ababa, which is 43 kilometers long, will be carried out at the “entrance to the city” areas. The city administration has completed a study of the corridor development works to be carried out in phase two through the planning and development office of the city.

The phase two includes Bole Lemi Kura and Akaki Kaliti sub-towns. The city administration says the “corridor development” work is aimed at beautifying the main roads, widening footpaths, building recreational areas, and modernizing roadside lighting and telecommunication lines.

The first phase of corridor development project covered a total of 48 kilometers with an expenditure of 33 billion birr. The construction of the second phase will be carried out on five lines, and the longest of these lines will cover 14.8 kilometers.
