Abyssinia Bank has launched the first digital Visa card in Ethiopia. Through this new service, customers can now use their mobile phones as a virtual Visa card. With the bank’s Apollo app, customers can convert their physical Visa card into a digital version and use their phone to withdraw cash from ATMs or make payments at point-of-sale terminals.
This partnership between Abyssinia Bank and Visa allows the bank to become the first in Ethiopia to offer e-commerce acquisition services. Businesses can now accept online payments using credit cards, which will help drive the growth of e-commerce in the country.
The digital Visa card provides customers with a convenient and secure way to manage their finances and make transactions. It eliminates the need to carry a physical card, reducing the risk of loss or theft. Customers can also enjoy increased purchasing power with the card’s high daily transaction limits.
Commitment of Abyssinia Bank to digitalization and innovation in the banking sector has enabled it to be a pioneer in offering this cutting-edge digital payment solution to its customers in Ethiopia.
