The 2016 academic year in Addis Ababa has begun, with 12th grade students who recently completed their leaving exams now entering universities of Ethiopia for higher education across the city.

The Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau, led by Dr. Zelalem Mulatu, and Addis Ababa University, under the acting presidency of Dr. Samuel Kifle, have both welcomed and encouraged these incoming students as they begin their university studies.

Social science exam takers in particular are set to commence their exams starting July 3, 2016 E.C. (Ethiopian Calendar), according to the announcement made by the Minister of Education.

Several universities of Ethiopia in the Amhara and Somali regions, including Woldiya, Debre Tabor, Debre Birhan, Gondar, Jigjiga, Jimma, Bonga, Mizan Tepi, Diredawa, Oda Bultum, and Wolayita Sodo, have also started receiving their share of the 12th grade examinees. These universities have reportedly made arrangements to provide the necessary accommodations, dining facilities, water supply, and medical services to support the incoming students.
